Focuses or Themes for Topics of Academic Religion Essays

Academic religion essays could be researched and written by university and college students taking up a wide variety of undergraduate courses. If the students are given the option of selecting their own topics, the next step for them after they selected specific topics for their essays would be the focus or theme of the topics they selected. It is also preferable if the students would select a specific topic that is focused or confined to a specific area rather than selecting a broad or general topic. For example, a religion essay topic about a particular Protestant denomination such as the Church of England would be more manageable to research and write compared to the essay topic of Protestantism.

Afterwards, the student should learn on how to determine the theme of the topics of their religion essays. They could have a brainstorming session and write down the specific themes of their topics. For example, if a student's topic is about the Church of England, the possible themes of the topic consists of: the origin and history of the Church of England; the creed of the Church of England including its beliefs and doctrines; the Church's code of ethics; the Church's rituals and other practices; and the Church's organisational structure.

The students should take note that the skills they learned on how to brainstorm determine the focuses or themes of their religion essays could also be applicable for the other essay writing tasks on specific subject areas that they would regularly perform. For example, a project management essay writing task could involve topics that have a broad and wide coverage so that it would be easier for the student performing that task to determine the theme of his topic. He could use the same technique that he used for his religion essay for his essay on project management.
